There is a new Pickleball rule book for sanctioned tournaments as well as a new 2021 Alternate Rule Book for all other play.

There are many changes and clarifications in the new books.

The most obvious changes are:

• A let Serve is not a let anymore. The ball is in play.
• A drop Serve is allowed where you can bounce the ball before you hit it. There are no rules for this Serve about upward swing or paddle below wrist.
• The old Serve is still the same except belly button is replaced by waist.
• A double hit is more clearly defined and a carry is defined and not allowed anymore.
