Progress Pickleball was formed in June of 2014 to fill a requirement for pickleball courts for 1 month, as our prior club was being updated. At the end of this month, it became apparent that we should continue for the summer, as the community centres in Scarborough were closed for July and August.
At the end of August, it was decided that there was enough ongoing demand to keep our location open for the fall. On December 1, 2014, we moved from 1510 Birchmount Road to 291 Progress Avenue. This was necessary as the old location was difficult to heat and had no A/C. Since that time, we have continued to attract new players, with as many as 50 players in one day.
This location has many advantages, including no windows to cause light interference, rubber mats to make it easier on the body, and blue walls to make it easier to see the balls in flight. This building has been converted to a dedicated badminton facility which is also ideal for pickleball. We have 4 assigned courts and the availability of 2 extra courts when we have the need.
Players can drop-in to to pick up a game 7 days per week:
We are open 52 weeks a year.
We divide our players into 2 categories, 4.0 players, and other levels. This assures everyone of competitive games with players of similar abilities.
We welcome new players to our club, and have various programs to develop their skills.
