History
Progress Pickleball was formed in June of 2014 to fill a need for pickleball courts for 1 month as a prior club was being updated. At the end of this month it became apparent that we should continue for the summer as the community centres in Scarborough were closed for July and August.
At the end of August it was decided that there was enough ongoing demand to keep our location open for the fall. On December 1, 2014, we moved from 1510 Birchmount Road to 291 Progress Avenue.
Leadership
Ray Nanji is the third Progress Pickleball Club President. He took over from Mike Livie on Dec-01-2024. Please see the official announcement here.
Ray Nanji has been helping out with the club for 8+ years. In 2017 he setup the club's website which continues to operate under the very well-known domain name progresspickleball.com.
Over the years, he secured many strategic partnerships with local and international organizations. This has resulted in current affiliate totals in the double-digits and has helped to get Progress Pickleball to be the most recognized club in the area.
Ray Nanji also competed at the highest levels in Canada between 2018 and 2021. Post COVID-pandemic, he has focused on his passion for coaching pickleball. Known as "Coach Ray", he is also the Head Pro at the Club.
