CLUB HOURS: Mon/Wed/Fri: 8am - 12 noon & Tue/Thu: 8am - 1pm

History

Progress Pickleball was formed in June of 2014 to fill a need for pickleball courts for 1 month as a prior club was being updated. At the end of this month it became apparent that we should continue for the summer as the community centres in Scarborough were closed for July and August.

At the end of August it was decided that there was enough ongoing demand to keep our location open for the fall. On December 1, 2014, we moved from 1510 Birchmount Road to 291 Progress Avenue.

Progress has evolved over the years since the move. For a while it was a 4 day a week club. As demand increased it became a 7 day a week club. The City of Toronto and nearby Markham have added many courts in Community Centres and by adding Pickleball lines to public tennis courts and hockey rinks. The addition of all of these courts has allowed us to review our hours.

Location

This location has many advantages. We have easy access from Highway 401 where we are just 1 block south from exits at either Kennedy or Brimley. The building has no windows to cause light interference. We have rubber mats to make it easier on the body, and blue walls to easily see the balls in flight. This building has been converted to a dedicated badminton facility which is also ideal for pickleball.

We have 5 assigned courts plus 2 teaching courts that can be used as needed. Expansion to 10 courts is expected in late 2023.

BEGINNERS CLINICS

We are constantly running 5 week beginners clinics. Many of those who take the beginners series move on to advanced beginners clinics with a few moving to private or semi private lessons when they become more competitive.
