Hi everyone,
Another Long Weekend has come and gone. I hope it was enjoyable for everyone. And for those of you who are not yet retired, another pickleball weekend is almost here due to the shortened work-week!
It's been almost 2 years now since I've been writing the Monthly Newsletters. And while it's been a pleasure to do so, this Newsletter will be my last one. I'll be passing off the generation of future Newsletters to Mike Livie.
I'll still be managing our website and communication mechanisms. This means I'll still be doing the website posts and the sending of emails behind the scenes from communications@progresspickleball.com. I'll also still be tweeting pickleball news, articles, and information, so please continue to follow @291Progress on Twitter.
Here is your Monthly Newsletter for September 2019.
Reminders
1. A friendly reminder that our club will be closed on Saturday, September 28th and Sunday, September 29th for the Provincial Junior Badminton Championships. For more details, please see this website post.
2. As per this website post, our Sunday hours have changed to 8 am to 12 noon. If courts are available, play will be allowed to continue.
New Series of Learning Clinics
A new set of Pickleball Learning Clinics has been scheduled for September and October 2019. This series of 6 clinics commences on Tuesday, September 17 and runs until October 22nd.

House Leagues - Fall Session
A new Fall session of our House Leagues is here! The Fall Leagues will run from September 16th until October 4th.
For more information and/or to signup, please see this website post.
Play Like the Pros
It's common belief that if you want to play like a pro, you should emulate that pro. And one way to emulate the pros is to use the same paddles they use, right? (If only it were that easy ...).
But for interest's sake, here's a rundown of the pickleball paddles that some well-known pros use:
Paddletek Bantam EX-L
- Kyle Yates
- Irina Tereschenko
ProKennex Ovation
- Jennifer Dawson
Prince Response Pro
- Simone Jardim
Paddletek Tempest Wave
- Dave Weinbach
- Barry Waddell
Paddletek Sabre Pro
- Scott Moore (for singles)
Paddletek Tempest Pro US OPEN
- Scott Moore (for doubles)
Onix Evoke Premier
- Lucy Kovalova
Onix Summit C1
- Kris Anderson
Selkirk AMPED Invikta
- Tyson McGuffin
Selkirk AMPED S2
- Cammy MacGregor
Franklin Signature Paddle
- Ben Johns

Our Club Email Addresses
We use 3 Progress Pickleball email addresses:
Emails sent to mike@progresspickleball.com go exclusively to Mike Livie.
Emails sent to rahemin@progresspickleball.com go exclusively to myself, Rahemin (Ray) Nanji.
Emails sent to communications@progresspickleball.com go to both Mike and myself. So for example, if you were to reply to this email newsletter (which has been sent from communications@progresspickleball.com), both Mike and myself would receive your email.
Please check out the Contact Us page on our website for more info on when you might want to send an email to Mike versus sending one to me.
Pickleball Fact of the Month
"In a recent survey, 8 out of 10 doctors agreed that playing pickleball was vital to good health. The other 2 doctors missed the survey as they were out playing pickleball."
Our Website
As always, we encourage you to visit the Progress Pickleball website regularly as it will be the first place where we will post club news or announcements.
