Many of our members think that the 4.0 box is for people who are beyond the beginner stage. This is not true. There are many very good players who are not qualified for 4.0. I would like to clarify who we would like in our 4.0 boxes.

If someone has medaled in a 3.5 or better tournament, they qualify.

Skills required for others - this is only a partial list:

• Can demonstrate a block volley
• Moves effectively with partner, easily switching sides, and communicates
• Windshield wiper dinks (16/20)
• 3rd shot drop in transition area both forehand and backhand down the line and crosscourt (4/5 for all)
• 3rd shot drop from baseline both forehand and backhand (6/10)
• Offensive lobs from NVZ (4/5)

If you want to put your paddle in the 4.0 box please be prepared to demonstrate these shots to Mohammed Mall, Robert Barnes or Mike Livie.
